Events UTM Tracking

What this is for

Events UTM Tracking helps you understand which marketing campaigns drive Event purchases by capturing UTM values from the links parents click (e.g., from ads, emails, social posts, partner links).

How to use it

Add UTM parameters to the URLs you share for your Events, for example:

https://your-event-link?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid_social&utm_campaign=summer_camp_2026

Common UTM fields include:

  • utm_source
  • utm_medium
  • utm_campaign
  • utm_content (optional)
  • utm_term (optional)

How tracking works

  • When a parent visits your Event link, Kindertales captures the UTM parameters from the URL.
  • The values are saved in the parent’s browser local storage so they remain persistent as the parent continues through the purchase flow.
  • When the parent completes an Event purchase, those UTM values are stored with the purchase record in the database.

Reporting (coming very soon)

UTM values captured from Event purchases will be available in a report soon, so you can review purchases by source/medium/campaign (and more).

Important notes

  • Kindertales captures URL parameters for attribution and excludes internal Kindertales parameters (for example, location_id or client_id).
  • Local storage is browser/device-specific. If a parent switches devices/browsers or uses private browsing / clears site data, the UTM values may not persist through to purchase.
