Milestones

Introduction

The Milestones feature in Kindertales is a powerful tool designed to track the developmental progress of children at your center. It not only assists centers in monitoring educational achievements but also enables parents to see their child's progress. This guide will walk you through setting up and using the Milestones feature effectively.

Enabling Milestones

Accessing Settings

  1. Click Settings in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Select the Features tab.
  3. Ensure that the Milestones feature is toggled on.
  4. Check the box to enable Parent Access and Parent Notifications if you wish to allow parents to view milestones and receive updates.

Navigating to Milestones

  1. Click Milestones on the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen.
  2. You will be directed to the Milestones main page.

Managing Milestones

Initial Setup

  1. On the Milestones page, click Manage to access the milestone management page.
  2. Select a milestone group from the dropdown menu to modify, or click Add New Group to create a custom group of milestones.

Using Pre-configured Milestones

  • Kindertales provides a set of pre-configured milestones, which can be used as is for quick setup.
  • To customize these, select a group like Infant Milestones. You can add new categories or reorder existing ones using the provided tools.

Customizing Milestones

  1. Click on a category to view its milestones.
  2. Select a milestone to see its indicators.
  3. Use Add Indicator or Add Milestone buttons to further customize the milestones according to your center’s needs.

Logging Milestones

Using Kindertales for Classrooms App

Default Method

  1. Open the Kindertales for Classrooms app and navigate to the classroom page.
  2. Select the children for whom you want to log a milestone.
  3. Click the Action Menu in the bottom right-hand corner and select Milestones.
  4. Choose the appropriate milestone group, category, milestone, and indicator.
  5. On the Record Entry screen, attach up to five photos or a video, add notes for parents, and internal notes.
  6. Select the status of the milestone (attempted or achieved).
  7. Use the Submit button to save the entry.

Alternate Method

  1. In the app, open the hamburger menu and select Milestones.
  2. Follow the same steps to select the group, category, milestone, and indicator.
  3. After clicking Record Entry, choose the students for whom you want to log the milestone.

Reporting Milestones

Accessing Reports

  1. Switch back to the Kindertales desktop app and go to the Milestones page.
  2. Click Report Builder to access various reporting tools.

Creating Reports

  • Development Report: Select a date range, room, and children to generate a report detailing all milestones achieved within the specified period, complete with photos.
  • Photo Report: Generate a visual report that includes only photos, ideal for sharing with parents.
