Learn all the features of the Kindertales Classroom mobile app


What's included in this article


Viewing the Main Menu

Tap on the 3 white bars in the top left corner. This will allow you to view and navigate the main menu.

Main Menu Features

Classroom Select to be taken to the dashboard of the selected classroom/common area.
Messages Review your inbox/sent box.
Health Review any medications currently in the classroom or immunizations due, or past due in the classroom.
Daily Activity Review all daily activities recorded throughout the day in the specific category.
Check-In & Out Requests Review check-in & out requests.
Milestones Review all milestones recorded throughout the day.
Reports Review all reports recorded throughout the day and what is still requiring your attention.
Checklists Pull up any scheduled checklists or unscheduled checklists. Once you complete each item on the checklist you can submit the checklist to the admin team.
Maintenance Record any maintenance like a broken object, burnt light bulb, or any maintenance needed in the classroom or any common area. This is also a great way to keep you and your team on top of what supplies are needed in the classroom.
Offline Queue If your internet connection becomes unstable Kindertales will queue all entries so your day does not have to stop. Just continue as you would, once the internet becomes stable again Kindertales will automatically upload everything.
Check-In History Review your check-in history and if needed request a change to your recorded time of check-in or out. Can also be used to check in/out.
Settings Open the currently logged-in account’s setting.
Knowledge Base Quick link to Kindertales knowledge base library.
Logout Log out of the current classroom. This keeps you checked into work but not in that room.

Personal Profile

Once logged in you’ll find your personal profile at the very top of the main menu. You may take a photo of yourself just by tapping on the circular icon with your initials in it.

Fast User Switching

On the right hand side of the personal profile you’ll find the  "Fast User Switching" icon. This feature allows you to quickly switch between staff user profiles on the same device.

Location and Rooms

Just below the personal profile displays two green bars. The first green bar displays your current location and the one below it displays the current room you are viewing. To view the current room dashboard just open up the main menu and tap on "Classroom". To view other rooms simply tap on the second green bar (the room you’re currently viewing) and it’ll display a dropdown box which you may scroll through to find the desired room.

Quick Links on Teacher Dashboard

At the top just below the Kindertales icon is the "Quick Links". The "Quick Links" help display incoming information such as receiving new messages or getting health notifications. Also, the bar can swipe left and right to view other quick links options.

  • Health: The number counter indicates overdue Immunizations and medications required for children in care today.
  • Messages: The number counter indicates the number of unread messages.
  • Reports: The number counter indicates any pending reports (accident, illness, incident).
  • Checklists: The number counter indicates checklists to be completed.

Understanding the Action Bar

You’ll find when viewing any classroom there we’ll be a round blue button with a white plus sign in the middle, located in the bottom right corner of the screen. This is the  "Action" button. Try selecting one or more children and then tap on the  "Action" button. This will bring up the "Action Bar", displaying multiple actions. (Please note by selecting multiple children the actions displayed in "Action Bar" will be limited.)

Viewing a Child’s Details

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the  "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Child Details" and from there you may select the following;
    • Profile: Provides an overview of detailed information about the child. For example, the programs they’re enrolled in, medical info, emergency contact, parent info and any additional info.
    • Notes: Allows you to record down notes for each child.
    • Forms: Displays a list of complete and incomplete forms.
    • Immunizations: Shows immunization history of the child.
    • Medications: Shows any present medications the child is currently taking.
    • Health Check: Shows recorded health check history.

Daily Summary

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the  "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Daily Summary" and from here you’ll find an overall view of what transpired throughout the day.

Kindertales Tip: May select multiple children to view their daily summary. Simply tap on each child to include them in the action. (Please note by selecting multiple children the actions displayed in "Action Bar" will be limited.)

Record a Child’s Attendance 

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the  "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Attendance" and from there you may select the following;
    • Check-In: Mark the child as present.
    • Check-Out: Mark checked-in child as not present.
    • Destination: Moves the select child to a selected location/room.
    • Mark Absent: Mark the child as not present.
    • History: Shows the check-in history.

Kindertales Tip

May select multiple children to check-in/check-out or even move groups of children to different rooms. Simply tap on each child to include them in the action. (Please note by selecting multiple children the actions displayed in "Action Bar" will be limited.)

Record a Child’s Daily Activities

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the  "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Daily Activity" and from there you may select the following;
    • Activity History: Displays an overview of the child’s daily activities.
    • Baby Bulletin: A bulletin allowing you to view parent noted activities with the child.
    • Food: Record daily food intake. 
    • Drink: Record daily drink intake.
    • Diaper Changes: Record each diaper changes activity.
    • Toilet Training: Record each toilet training activity.
    • My Day: Take a photo and record memorable moments of the child.
    • Naps: Record taken naps.
    • Supplies: Sends out supply request notices to parent(s).

Kindertales Tip

May select multiple children to record, request, and view daily activities. Simply tap on each child to include them in the action. (Please note by selecting multiple children the actions displayed in "Action Bar" will be limited.)

Record a Child’s Milestones

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Milestones" and select the corresponding tabs
  4. Fill out the milestone and then submit.

Record a Child’s Report

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the  "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Report" and from there you may select the following;
    • Report History: Displays an overview of the child’s report history.
    • Incident Report: Record a child incident report. 
    • Accident Report: Record a child accident report.
    • Illness Report: Record a child illness report. 

Kindertales Tip: To close off a report all 3 signatures from the teacher, supervisor, and parent are required.

Compose a Message

  1. View your classroom and select a child. 
  2. Tap on the  "Action" button in the bottom right corner. This will bring up the "Action Bar".
  3. Select "Message" and compose your message.
  4. Once complete, tap on the "Send" located in the bottom right corner.

Kindertales Tip

If you would like to compose one overall message to send to multiple children’s parents. Simply tap on each child to include them in the action. (Please note by selecting multiple children the actions displayed in "Action Bar" will be limited.)
