Kindertales' Messaging features — a valuable tool that allows for instant communication and streamlined updates to families and staff. This guide will walk you through the basics of sending instant messages and SMS alerts, helping you to effectively use this powerful communication tool from your very first message.

Sending Instant Messages

Instant messaging in Kindertales is designed for quick and direct communication. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Compose a Message:

    • Navigate to Messages from the left menu and select Compose.
    • Choose a message template or start from scratch.
    • Enter your message text and attach any necessary files.
    • Use the green and white + icon to select recipients.
    • Choose the message sender—set as Default, NoReply, or a verified personal email.
    • Insert a subject line and check the box if email approval is needed.
  2. Preview and Send:

    • Click Preview Message to review.
    • Choose to Send Message immediately or Schedule Message for a later date and time.

Reviewing Message Statistics

To assess the impact and reach of your sent messages:

  • Navigate to Messages > Sent.
  • Select View Stats beside any sent message to see delivery percentages, open rates, click-throughs, and failed addresses.

Sending SMS Alerts

SMS alerts are a critical tool for urgent updates like school closures:

  1. Setup and Compliance:

    • Inform families about SMS Alerts and their one-way communication nature.
    • Families and staff can opt-in through the child’s profile or automatically upon adding a phone number.
  2. Sending an SMS:

    • Messages are scheduled to send every 10 minutes.
    • Navigate to SMS Alert, add contacts, compose your message, and confirm details on the preview screen before sending.
  3. Opting Out:

    • Users can opt-out by replying STOP. Opted-out contacts will be greyed out and not selectable for future messages.
